We will be offering these on eBay over the next several weeks, along with the "remains" of Vols. 1 thru 8 previously purchased. TITLE: THE RADIATED DORIS, OR DORIS RADIATA PLATE NO. 221 of c. 1795, native of the West Indian ocean, w is swims principally on or near the surface of the sea with original English and Latin texts, and photocopy of the title page. CONDITION: EXCELLENT , EXCEPT: t is some occasional light age toning just at the margins More popularly known as "Shaw-Nodder" or on eBay as just "Nodder," this is an original hand colored copperplate engraving on Whatman paper from "The Naturalists Miscellany" by George Shaw, published by Frederick P. Nodder, Brewer Street, London. The work, published in 24 volumes between 1789 and 1813, consists of over 1,000 appealing, whimsical figures of some 284 birds, together with fish, shells, exotic marine life, butterflies, insects, quadrupeds reptiles, and a very few botanicals.
