Paulus Pontius after Anthony Van Dycktitled: "Portrait of Count Hendrik van den Bergh"17th century engravingPaulus Pontius (1603-1658) was a Flemish engraver and painter. He was one of the leading engravers connected with the workshop of Peter Paul Rubens and worked after Rubens' death for other leading Antwerp painters such as Anthony van Dyck , Jacob Jordaens and others. This engraved portrait is after a painting by Anthony Van Dyck titled, Portrait of Count Hendrik van den Bergh (1573-1638) . This engraving is pictured in the book, Anthony Van Dyck as a printmaker. The book states that Paulus Pontius produced Van Dyck's most important portrait prints. The overall size with mat is 19 7/8 x 16 7/8 inches. En graving size is 14 1/4 x 11 5/8 inches. There is a very small 3/8 inch tear on left edge, repaired on back (see photo)... Otherwise in great condition. Buyer pays shipping costs. All sales are final unless item is not as described.
