A good seventeenth century terracotta roundel showing Saint Matthew writing the gospel, assisted by an angel. This piece came from the estate of David Stickelber who was one of Kansas City's foremost advocates of the arts,a collector and friend of Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza.The terracotta measures 7.75" in diameter and the image size is about 6.5".It is housed in a nineteenth century frame with old wire and tape securing it and has an overall size of 12" x 13.5".Condition is good with a nice old surface from handling that is washed out by my photos. There is a firing? crack that goes around the edge on back that is barely visible on the right edge (outside the image) of the front. It needs to be secured in the frame a little better and shipping will be 20.00 in the US and 40.00 international.
