1803 HENRY DEARBORN, War Department Letter, hand written and signed by Dearborn ~ Guaranteed 100% Authentic ~ A rare historical document! This letter, dated January 7th, 1803 from the War Department, is hand written and hand signed by Henry Dearborn himself. Some letters you will find on eBay are signed by his secretary, but this one is not. The letter reads: "Sir, Ensign Joseph Dorr has been appointed Commander of the Public Schooner Senator Tracy, and you will be pleased to govern yourself accordingly. I am respetively yours, H. Dearborn " This letter is from t he Elaine Madlener Collection, as can be seen by the stamp in the lower left corner of the letter. Madlener was a manuscript and autograph collector. Approximate Dimensions: 8-1/8" x 8-3/4" Henry Dearborn (February 23, 1751 – June 6, 1829) was an American physician, a statesman and a veteran of both the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. When fighting in the American Revolutionary War began, he organized and led a local militia troop of 60 men to Boston where he fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill as a captain in Colonel John Stark’s First New Hampshire Regiment.
