1805 MACON GA Col BENJAMIN HAWKINS * RELIC NAIL & WOOD This week I am selling a few items that were officially deaccessioned from the Historical Society of Berks County (HSBC). Documentation on HSBC letterhead can be provided to any winning bidder by request. This auction is for an hand forged nail and wood fragment from a Block House built by Col. Benjamin Hawkins near Macon, Georgia in 1806. Wikipedia has a long entry about Col. Hawkins that describes his service under George Washington during the Revolutionary War, as a North Carolina representative to the Continental Congress, and as an Indian Agent for the US Government. The relics are tied to an old museum ID card with an accession number (2001.N.74) on the back. The nail is in relic condition with oxidation, pitting, and it appears to have a broken tip. The wooden fragment is about 2 5/8” long. See my other auctions. Offered with NO RESERVE. Terms and Conditions All items guaranteed as represented. All returns require e-mail notification within 3 days of receipt. Winning bidder pays 5 oz postage for USA boxed shipment. International orders pay 5 oz postage. My turn-around time for shipping is usually next Business Day, sometimes even same day. Extra USPS services are available by request. Pennsylvania residents who do not have a resale tax license are required to pay 6% sales
