Horseman's Sword - Va Manufactory 2nd or 3rd Model Retooled and cut down for Confederate use. Manufactured at the facility known as Virginia Manufactory of Arms, Richmond 1806-1821. Bird's head pommel. Iron half-basket hilt with seven slots. Leather covered, wire wrapped handle. Originally, the blade was an extremly long 39 inches for the 2nd Model. It became 35 inches for the 3rd Model. A production of about 7500. Source: The Virginia Manufactory of Arms by Giles Cromwell, published by University Press of Virginia.
