1813 50/UNI O.101a Capped Bust half dollar, PCGS XF40. This is a very late die state example of this tough and always popular Redbook variety. The surfaces are pretty darn smooth, but the uninitiated collector might just not understand! The dies have clashed multiple times, and they have likely been lapped and reused, over and over again - so they appear to have been worn down to nearly nubs! And, this obverse die continued on to make 102's! What we wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall of the half dollar coining room back in 1813!DavidKahnRareCoins is your source for scarce, rare and high-quality collector coins.
