1814 Capped Bust Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-61 PQ. A bold striking of a scarcer variety Capped Bust half dollar. Only stars 1-3 are flat and the definition of the hair is outstanding. Border detail is above average for this variety, often seen with very little border detail. A specimen as defined as the present piece clearly showcases the raised die lines that are found near the lowest curl on the neck. This is a late die state example. On the reverse, there is a smooth area in the lower part of the eagle`s right wing, a result of a sinking die. Several heavy clashmarks are visible as well, the most notable the presence of several letters from the word LIBERTY just beneath the eagle`s left wing. A choice example of this fascinating variety! PCGS has graded 3 in MS-61 with 65 finer (PCGS # 6105).
