The specimen in this listing is a Imilac Pallasite Meteorite, Antofagasta, Chile weighs .22 gram Individual and is approximately 9 x 4 x 3 mm in size. from Atacama, Chile. It will also come as pictured in a display box along with a specimen / certificate of authenticity from Steve Arnold, Host of Meteorite Men on the Science Channel. This specimen was specifically found during the Season Two, "Atacama Gems" episode in Chile. Imilac Pallasite meteorite strewn field was first discovered by Westerners in 1822, and is located in the Atacama Desert of Chile. The nickel iron matrix is 91% Fe, 9.9% Ni, .48% O, 21 ppm Ga, 46 ppm Ge and 71 ppb Ir. The silver coloured matrix holds beautiful yellow orange to yellow green olivine crystals. The rain gauge at Calama has reportedly never received any measurable precipitation. The Atacama is a high desert with many regions over 8000 feet in elevation. The Atacama Desert of Chile is said to be one of the driest region in the world. The plastic stand and scale cube are provided for size and visual reference and is not included in the sale.
