After decades of collecting, I have decided to part with afew of my pieces to help fund the recycling project on my house. This is a beautiful engraving by Luigi Rossini (1790 – 1857), although often mistaken for Piranesi, I think Rossini’s work is equal if not superior in quality and detail. This particular view was thought to have been a Temple of Minerva when drawn by both Piranesi and by Rossini. It is now accepted in archeological circles that this is instead a view of a Nymphaeum (gardens) of the Lincinii family. Although the dome collapsed not long after the drawing, the remains of the structure are still visible today.Titled: Avanzo del Tempio di Minerva Medica, da altri un Sepolcro.
