DAVY CROCKETT VISITS NEW YORK CITY.The New York Standard, May 2, 1834.A 9" column on page 2 headed: THE GREAT MAN HAS COME AT LAST.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Col. David Crockett, of Tennessee, arrived in this city on Tuesday afternoon, and immediately after his landing took up his line of march to the American Hotel, etc.Note: David Crockett (August 17, 1786-March 6, 1836), was a 19th Century American Folk Hero, Frontiersman, a Soldier and politician. He is commonly represented to in culture by the epithet "King of the Wild Frontier". He represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1827-1829. 1829-1831 &. He served in the Texas Revolution and was killed in the Alamo on May 6, 1836.Note: This was Davy Crockett's tour in the north and down east. Contempory accounts of his visit to NYC are scarce and highly desirable.4 page newspaper in very good condition. Seperated at the spine when removed from a bound volume for microfilming.
