1835 US Stampless folded letter with red Phila 4 Apr (Philadelphia - April) eight-sided broken line postmark, likely doubled - Phila is 3 mm high --- 20 in script at upper right --- addressed to Mr. Parks, formerly of the firm of Parks, Campbell & Co, Merchants, Franklin, Tennessee --- seal is present with small hole torn in back flap and mark on corresponding back flapLetter is dated Philadelphia, April 4, 1835, and begins Sir --- the writer says, "I addressed to you a letter some time [ago] in relation to the account now standing on my old books against the firm of Parks Campbell & Co to which I was not so fortunate as to receive a reply"He explains, "Presuming that you would visit this City in the present Spring I concluded that you are waiting for a personal interview to close it, in preference to forwarding the money by mail." --- he continues, "Although I confidently expected to see you when you should arrive, I learn to my regret that you have been [here], made your purchases and returned again to Tennessee."He explains this "leaves me no other choice than again to request your attention to it by letter, which I hope your sense of justice will not permit you likewise to overlook" --- he details, "The account stands upon the books, thus" and below that, Messrs Parks Campbell & Co; 1833 April 16.
