1840 Mulberry Staffordshire Transferware Bowl - Minerva A wonderful early mulberry (a rich purple, not black) Staffordshire transferware -a large rimmed bowl -- big enough to be a serving bowl. Measures almost 10 inches in diamter. Elegant, ornate center design of two women amid the urns and columns of a mansion or castle. Wide border with scenic medallions. The Podmore Walker (the precursor to Wedgwood) mark dates to between 1834 and 1859. Excellent condition - no chips, cracks or repairs, just some fine crazing that is almost invisible. I also have several pieces of 19th century white ironstone currently listed and I will be listing additional pieces of white ironstone and other 19th century pottery and porcelain in the days and weeks ahead, so please check back often.
