This very rare early Victorian silver pocket seal and stamp moistener measures 50mm (2'') long x 12mm (.5'') across the wafer seal and weighs 9.5 grams. It is marked for S. Mordan with a patent date for February in the 1840's and although unmarked is solid sterling silver. It is as you would expect from Mordan well engineered and a very clever design and actually not a very common survivor. It is in good usable condition and a rare early example of a gentleman's pocket stamp moistener seal from the best maker of the period sold with no reserve.
