1841 Letter Sept 29, 1841 From Thos (Thomas?) Roney To His Cousin, also, Thomas Roney The receiving TR was at that time a Midshipman aboard the Sloop of War Cyane. He later graduated from the U S Naval Academy in the Class of 1847. He died in 1860 while serving off the coast of Africa. The Thos Roney sending the letter notes that his father is undecided on where to send him for college--either Yale or Princeton. He prefers Princeton; however, he writes, "they say that there is great deal of dissipation there."
