In the preface the author state that these are observations made "... during a summer tour of four thousand miles, through the great lakes, prairies of Illinois, Mississippi, Ohio, Alleghany Mountains, [etc.] .." Embossed blind-stamped cloth with gilt . Engraved title page showing early Railroad Train Locomotive. In good to very good condition. Ink inscription on ffep, 1841. Please see photos .
