Almanac Description: S. N. Dickinson, The Boston Almanac for the Year 1842. Boston: Thomas Groom, 1842, 128 pages plus publisher’s ads in rear. Gilt title on brown boards. Some fraying to cloth on spine. Minor staining to card along with remnant of postage stamp. Binding weak. Overall, however, in good condition with original two-page map of the city of Boston. Includes a business directory, a general review of events in 1841, stage routes, etc. For those of you unfamiliar with this series, many years have a pasted down trade card as does this on the inside cover for the printer S. N. Dickinson. Card a bit rough on the right edge. This copy also had an engraving of Dickinson’s office (see provided image). One of the classic popular almanacs.
