Carson) ---------------- Edinburgh : Bell & Bradfute (1843) ---------------- Description: this work in Latin is half bound in brown leather with brown boards, gilt lettering to the spine, speckled page ends, inscription to the front pastedown, containing two pullout maps, pp. xiv, 449 + Index to the rear of the book. General Remarks: I have located another edition of this book in the British Library, but no other references elsewhere on the Internet. The Author is Publius Cornelius Tacitus according to the British Library. According to an Internet source, "Publius (or Gaius) Cornelius Tacitus (56 AD – 117 AD) was a senator and a historian of the Roman Empire." Size/Weight: Unpackaged Weight: 800g (approx 1lb 12oz). Size: 8vo (20 x 14.25 cm (approx 8¾ x 5½ inches)). Condition: Externally: rubbed and bumped, some scuffing and wear to the leather, minor marks to the boards, otherwise remaining bound. Internally: some age browning and foxing, otherwise generally bright and tight. Overall Condition: externally generally good, internally very good. General Book(s) Condition Descriptions: Fine As new, without any faults or other defects. Near Fine There are one or two minor defects, but the general condition of the book appears as new. Very Good Showing some signs of wear through use, but complete and overall in very good condition. Good Average condition, showing signs of wear and tear through normal use, but the book is complete.
