This folded lettersheet / stampless letter has a circular date stamp for ABERDEEN Mi. SEP 8, a matching 5 cents rate / star cancel, and is addressed to Mrs. Harriet H. Jones, Russelville, Alabama, and is a three page letter, with a little writing on a side fold, written by Kate to 'My dear Cousin'. The dateline is Sylvan Villa, Sept 6 / 46. From a little research, it appears that the addressee of this letter was Harriet Harris Jones (1825-1889), who had a son named John Coffee Jones, born about 1845. (probably the Coffee mentioned in this letter). As for the Dr. Trimble mentioned in the letter, there were two Dr. Trimbles, half brothers, in Russellville / Aberdeen at that time: Dr. Green W. Trimble, and Dr. Joseph A. Trimble. Fun to research. Some abstracts: "You must certainly be passing your time most delightfully to reamin so long from Bill but dear Hal you are with your own relations and they love you, so I do not blame you for staying, yet I envy them your sweet society."
