1846 stampless folded letter, with blue "TROY/N.Y." cds, and blue "V" in double-line circle rate handstamp, addressed to G.W. Newell, Chief Clerk, at Albany, N.Y. The addressee, George W. Newell, was Chief Clerk of the Canal Department of the State of NY. Letter contents dated at the "Collector's Office", Sept. 15, 1846, from J. Crowell, Clerk, with interesting Canal related content, in which he advises that he made some omissions on his monthly report, particularly as related to the Canal Boat "Camden", of Ithaca, N.Y., and of collections not being timely made from that boat during her "down clearance". Very Fine. COMBINED SHIPPING FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS.
