However, it's readily available in bookstores and on the internet.DESCRIPTION. This is a sixth plate ambrotype photograph. Ambrotypes are positive images on glass and each one is unique. The ambrotype era is considered to be 1854-1863 though most were produced in the late 1850s.This one features a handsome man with excellent lighting on his face. T are two gold buttons which barely show in the scan, and he wears a gold ring. SIZE. Sixth plate is 3 1/4 X 2 3/4 inches.HOUSING. Full case in very good condition with expertly done new spine.CONDITION. Oxidation is obvious (see scans.) Mat abrasions at periphery.APPEARANCE. Oxidation patterns are obvious. The lighting on his face is superb. Excellent clarity. Very good details. Very good contrast. The gold highlights are a nice touch.THE BOOK.
