Introduction: This lot features four letters to WilliamChase Crosby (1806-1880). Crosby was a lawyer and merchant in Bangor and in Atkinson, Maine. He was the chairman of the East Maine Kansas Aid Society which was important in financing and assisting Free settlers in Kansas in the Pre-civil war years.
