This is a fantastic letter from Levi Holbrook of Danville Va to his son Levi Jr. in Easthampton Massachusetts. In the letter he mentions John Sutherlin a prominent citizen of Danville. The Sutherlin house was the last office of the Confederate States used by Jefferson Davis. He also mentions a shooting with the police involved and a Dr. Saunders and a five barrel pistol. Long letter with 4 pages. Postmarked from Danville, stampless letter.
