1852-O $2.5 Gold Quarter Eagle. Although 140,000 were minted in New Orleans in 1852, many experts believe fewer than 400 exist in all grades. Most were melted down. Coins from the New Orleans mint prior to the Civil War are relatively rare, especially in this condition. This coin shows very minimal wear on the obverse and rim, and I believe the weakness on the reverse in the chest and leg areas is due to the weak strike, and not wear. However, please grade this rare coin for yourself. If you need more pics, just ask.
