1853 Volume 7 (of 8) published by Little, Brown and Company, ~ PICTORIAL SHAKSPERE ~ The comedies, histories, tragedies and poems of William Shakspere (Shakespeare) with a biography and studies of his works, by Charles Knight. Pictorial and National Edition. The first half of the book (194 illustrated with black and white woodcut illustrations all through the book) contains the following poems: Venus and Adonis The Rape of Lucrece Sonnets Lover's complaint The Passionate Pilgrim The second half of the book (329 pages) is a reprint of a volume printed in 1843 on the biography of Shakespeare, by Knight, who made some alterations and modifications grounded upon new information. This biography is in 5 illustrated sections: Ancestry A Calling Leaving Home glimpses of Society Appendix ( his will, autographs and portraits) Good complete condition. Tight binding. Patterson & Clark booksellers seal on front endpage, no writing or written names. Hinges not split. Leather has staining and wear to edges and corners.
