A. Darlot was a French optical company founded in the 1850's. In 1860, the company was simply known as Darlot. On this lens, it has some distinct markings; one is the A. Darlot, Sc111, and the other is the crossed "A" and "D". On one end, the lens measures 2" across. On the other end, the lens measures 2 1/4" across. The larger end, brass coupling, unscrews with good threads. The other smaller end also unscrews to reveal 2 lenses, one thicker than the other. On the side of the thicker lens is hand written, "AD Paris S111 @ 1745". The side screw easily turns to focus the lens. The different threads all unscrew very easily. The lenses are all clean and without chips or cracks. I admit that I am no expert. The lens is a total of 4" long. I was asked of a focal length. ?? This may be a projection lens. Subjects never come into focus when you adjust the wheel. My thanks go out to Lloyd, a fellow Ebayer, who showed me how to detect its focal length, which is 9.5 and thus the f/stop would be 4.22. The lens also comes with its original leather cap on the larger end. This lens will be sold "as is", so if you need more pictures, just ask please. Shipping will be only $7.00 anywhere in the U.S.
