1855 Nautical Map MEDITERRANEAN TURKEY Antalya Bay Original large-format nautical chart of part of Turkey's southwest coast, printed in Paris more than 152 years ago. This handsome, engraved map is titled Carte de la Côte de Karamanie Comprenant le Golfe d'Adalie . It measures a very generous 63 x 93 cm [25" x 36-1/2"] overall and shows soundings and landmarks, with six elevations depicting points along the shoreline as it would appear to approaching sailors. The area depicted includes the bay of Antalya, and includes an inset of the city of Antalya, identified on the map by its Greek name "Adalia." T is also an inset of Alaya (the ancient city of Coracesium). Other named places and features along this stretch of the coast include Silinty, Nephelis, Mount Climax, Tekrova, and more. This map is printed on a heavyweight laid paper, and was published by the Dépôt-géneral de la Marine in 1855.
