1860s CDV THOMAS LOWRY OF FAMOUS LOWRY GANG IN LUMBERTON NORTH CAROLINA Vintage, original albumen photograph on CDV from the 1860s of Thomas Lowry, as photographed by C. W. Yates of Wilmington, North Carolina (the card, probably printed and purchased from Anthony of New York City erroneously printed "Wilmington, Del.", and in fine condition. The Lowry family lived around Lumberton, North Carolina, and apparently were of mixed Indian and black heritage. Led by the oldest brother, Henry Berry Lowry, they came into conflict, first with the Confederate forces and then later Federal authorities. Tom as killed in 1872. Yates was known to have photographed other members of the gang, and this one, of Tom, is in fine condition. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
