You are bidding on a Jacquesrd coverlet, tied Biederwand on one side, probably about 1860, 75x78. It is signed "M-BY-H STAGER MOUNT JOY LANCASTER CO PA WARRANTED FAST COLORS NO 1" in mirror image on the bottom on the coverlet. Mr. Stager lived from 1820-1888. This is an outstanding Pennsylvania piece that was in my family for the last 50 years after being purchased in an antique shop in Lockport, NY in the early 1960's. The colors are still vibrant - orange, red, blue, green and cream yarns are used in a framed medallion format. It is edged in the grapes and leaves motif and combines florals mixed with geometrics in the center. T is self fringe on the sides and applied red and blue fringe on the bottom in very good condition. Condition: T are no apparent stains and the coverlet is very clean. T are three areas that have been darned (pre 1900) on the side, and two in the border area around the center medallion. The darns are shown in the attached pictures and are not visible except for close examination. Overall good condition to very good condition. The coverlet is sold "as is" unless grossly misrepresented. Please email questions before bidding if unsure of what you are bidding on. Payment is expected within 4 days of close of auction.
