This Confederate $5 Paper Note comes from my own collection. It was issued by The Bank of Pittsylvania in Chatham, Virginia on May 16, 1861 (date is written in ink) and it is ink signed by L. B. Conway and W. W. Kerns or Keans who was the President of the bank. This note is very graphic and colorful in a lovely green and black ink featuring a farmer and boy in the center with horses and a plow, a woman with a sickle on the left and an adorable girl with curls on the right. The Bank of Pittsylvania only existed from 1860 - 1863 so this is a popular note to collect. I purchased this 20 years ago from an antique currency dealer in Lambertville, NJ and it is still inside the plastic that it came in. It is in good used condition and has some minor staining and creasing which can be seen in numerous photos close up. Please carefully view all the photos as they are also considered part of the description and best depict condition and please ask all questions before bidding. This will be shipped for FREE First Class Mail with Tracking included. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
