To say rare is somewhat of an understatement. This Guitar was built between 1862 and 1878 This is a French Parlour Guitar with all solid woods used in its construction. The back and sides are made from solid AAA Flamed maple and the top loos to be either Cedar or Spruce, The fingerboard is Indian Ebony as is the Moustache Bridge, The rosette is made from some kind of shellac and real mother of pearl, The open geared tuners are Original to this guitar. When I first got this guitar it was merely a bag of bits inside the original case, The neck was almost completely off the guitar (being only held on by the fingerboard on the top of the guitar. The bridge was off and the guitar table was smashed in just below where the bridge sits. So I completely removed the Neck and dressed the frets, next I restored the table inserting small pieces of spruce, Next I removed all the lacquer from the front face of the guitar and neck. I cleaned, dressed and reset the bridge, and then reset the neck, I then waxed the front table and the back of the neck and set the guitar with a good playing action. There is some very minor damage to some of the binding at the back of the guitar but this was so minor I decided against removing and re-installing this intricate Elm/Ebony binding.
