Scarce Civil War era pocket Holy Bible bound in haversack style wallet form, complete with flap and catch, in great shape with some light external wear, bumping and light leather loss. Original textured leather covers and spine, with title in gilt on spine, as shown, hinges intact; in great shape. Pages all present; lightly browned throughout and in good shape, with the binding intact. Signature to front presenting the Bible to George Gardner from Mr + Mrs I. H. McCullom of Hillsdale Michigan on Dec 25th 1864. These bibles were carried by the soldiers in the civil war. George Gardner was a Union Civil War soldier Company I Second Calvary Mr + Mrs I. H. McCullom were prominent members of Hillsdale Michigan at the time. Gilt page edges. 6" x 4.5". RARE! Do not miss this chance to own this great piece of history and such great condition.
