Confederate Civil War "South Striking Down Union" $5 NR This is a very nice original 1863 dated $5.00 note from the state of Louisiana. On the left hand side is the famous mother pelican feeding her young. In the center it has the image of the fighting scene that depicts the allegorical scene of the South personified striking down the Union. In the lower right hand corner it has the image of a bearded man with a jug of water. On the front it also has the issuance date of March 10th 1863 and it was issued from Shreveport, Louisiana. The back of the note has the beautiful green print that reads boldly “THE STATE OF LOUISIANA” The note is nicely and correctly hand signed and numbered and it is in circulated condition. The overall size of the note measures 6.25 inches by 3 inches. It comes in an acid free holder for preservation and display. Being sold at no reserve so you guys set the price.
