c. 1864-65 Civil War Cover from 'Head-Quarters Dept. and Army of the Tennessee' ORIGIN & DATE: Delphi, IN, June 8 (no year date) DESCRIPTION (Scott #): #6 size cover w/ #65, damaged, tied by killer w/ unreadable Delphi, Indiana dcds cancel, pre-printed 'Head-Quarters Department and Army of the Tennessee' at top margin. Delphi, IN is the only town name in the US that fits the Civil War period and is in the eastern US. I t is not clear why this cover would be mailed from Delphi, IN, and Delphi may be the wrong town. The state is not shown because of the poor strike. Sent to Miss Jennie Zimmerman / Van Wirt / Ohio CONDITION : Reduced about 1/2" at right. Soiled. Corners creased.
