Here's one of the first Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce bottles that we dug from a Civil War period outhouse pit.....this bottle with it's original embossed glass stopper dates from the 1863-1867 era and is identical to Lea & Perrins bottles recovered from the famous S.S.Republic shipwreck which sank in 1865 on its way to New Orleans. LEA & PERRINS WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE bold emb up front and around shoulder.... A C B CO on bottom, which stands for Aire Calder Bottle Co. Glass stopper is embossed LEA & PERRINS Hand blown, bimal.....smooth base.....crude applied collar....aqua....round....7"tall.....GOOD CONDITION with no chips, cracks or damage. A dug bottle with haze and etched swirl lines on outside surface of glass. A little bit of rainbow irridescence, but not much. The Lea & Perrins Sauce bottles found on the S.S.Republic wreck site were identical to this bottle, including the ACBCO glasshouse mark on bottom!
