ORIGINAL PERIOD 1867-1867 AMERICAN SILK FLAG WITH 37 STARS....HIGH GRAPHIC IMPACT! BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED IN A CONTEMPORARY GILTWOOD (22.5" x 29") FRAME AND LINEN MATT.....FLAG MEASURES (16" x 23.5")....CONDITION IS VERY GOOD.....SILK SEPARATING AT TOP AS SHOWN BUT INTACT: PLEASE NOTE THE REPAIR STITCHING UPPER LEFT....SPORADIC NEEDLE THIN SEPARATING OVER LAST 150 YEARS....UNOBTRUSIVE VERTICAL CENTER FOLD....COLORS ARE UNUSUALLY BRIGHT AND CRISP....NEXT TO NO FADING....THIS FLAG HAS BEEN PRESUMABLY BEEN CONSERVED AND APPARENTLY PROTECTED BY ACID FREE MATTING....The 37-Star Flag: This Flag became the Official United States Flag on July 4th 1867. A star was added for the admission of Nebraska (March 1st,1867) and was to last for ten years. The three Presidents who served under this flag were; Andrew Johnson (1865-1869), Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877), and Rutherford B. Hayes (1877-1881). THIS FLAG DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY...A RARE AMERICAN TREASURE!
