Antique Decorated Silver Plate Goblet Engraved with the following inscription : " Mrs. Greene , from her S. S. Class , Jan. 1, 1867 " **** 140 Years Old **** The bottom of the goblet is marked " Rogers , Smith & Co. , New Haven CT , No. 1377. " The mark "No. 1377" was used in the years 1862 to 1877 Height is 6.5" Diameter is 3.25" Although I am unable to identify just which "Mrs. Greene" this was, she clearly was a Church Sunday School teacher, and as this goblet was obtained just a few miles from Bar Harbor , Maine , it is possible that Mrs. Greene lived in that area as well. The cup has condition issues - dings, scratches, a bit of denting, and a lean in the stem - but this is not being sold as a fine goblet of silver , but rather as a piece of American History , 140 years old, and significant to the Greene Family . Exact cost of shipping by USPS Priority Mail will be determined upon auction close, but for most U.S. buyers the cost of shipping this cup should come to about $7.00 ***** Offered With No Reserve ***** ************** I Invite You To Examine My Other Auctions For Antiquarian Books Currently Being Offered (use the link in the upper right corner of this page) ************** Carefully packed and bubble-wrapped for shipment to the buyer .
