Here's two envelopes, each with a manuscript postal marking for Shell Rock Ia, each with a three cents stamp on it. One is addressed to Mr Wm Brogue, Balston Springs, Saratoga county NY, and the other to Mrs Wm Brogue, Charlton, Saratoga co., NY. Each has an enclosed letter, written by M.B. Brogue. The dateline on one is Shellrock Butler co, Iowa, Jan 12, 1867 ('postmark' on cover is Jan 15); the other letter's dateline is Shellrock Butler Co Iowa March 1, 1867 ('postmark' on cover is March 2). These are the only two letters that I have written by M.B. Brogue, I had sold one letter from him earlier, that was when he was a Civil War soldier. These three are the only ones from him that I've come across.
