A Foundation And Plain Instruction Of The Saving Doctrine of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Briefly Compiled From The Word Of God Translated From The Dutch Language Into The German , Together With Other Instructive Treatises, Written By The Author O This "Foundation", Which Were Formerly Published Separately, But Here Appended, And The Whole Arranged As A Common Manual , by Menno Simon. Translated into English by I. Daniel Rupp. Published by J. E. Barr & Co, Lancaster Pa. Originally printed in Europe in 1565. Print date is 1869. 422 pages plus 2 page index. Leather boards have only light rubs at perimeter, with no areas rubbed through. Covers are very slightly sprung. Rear cover is mottled, front is clean. Title lable intact and gilt letterin is bright. Outer joints are uncracked. Inner hinges are tight as is the binding throughout. There is a small hole on the ffep at hinge and a short closed tear at fore edge. The first pages, through page 23 have a tiny brown stain at bottom corner. The rest of the book is generally clean, bright and supple. The main section of the book continues to page 159. The rest is a series of separate works, that each have their own title page, printing info, etc. These include: Of The True Christian Faith - Which converts, changes, renews, makes pious, upright, peaceable, joyful and blessed the human heart;
