Rare Antique Carved Bog Oak Irish Abbeys Mourning Brcelet ~ 1870's Zoom Irish church history had it's beginnings in the 7th Century and from early medieval times into the 12th Century many grand Abbeys were built in Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. This extraordinary bracelet has carved panels in bog oak detailing Irish Abbeys. Bog Oak is a dark brown to ebony colored wood that is found in the peat bogs of Ireland. It was as popular as jet for mourning jewellery, particularly in the 19th century. It is a similar substance to jet but unlike jet, bog oak is matte and when carved it shows its wood-like grain. The carved bog oak in this piece has been crafted with great skill with superb detail, and each of the round panels is unique ~ just wonderful. The panels are joined with expanding twine. . This beautiful and rare antique mourning bracelet is a wonderful piece of Irish history. VISIT OUR STORE:CHANCE STORAGE FINDS "WHERE WHAT WE FIND-YOU FIND" Please ask all questions before bidding.
