Post Civil War Memorial Tintype of General Lee & Sons taken by Mathew Brady in April 1865. This piece, Produced in Baltimore, Maryland shortly after the Death of the Confederate Icon in 1870 I believe was a Memorial/Momento Souvenir for Members of the Daughters of the Confederacy & even G.A.R. ( Grand Army of the Republic ) members. From 1870 to as late as 1938(!) former Rebs and Yanks had Huge Memorial Gatherings in the South as well as the North. The 1/6th Plate Tintype is encased in a Beautiful Hand Tooled Leather Case measuring 3.5 X 3 Closed and 7 X 3 Open. The Interior Brass Matting and Ornate Paper Sleeve are nearly Flawless ! The Exterior Casing has Beautiful Gold Trim outlining the Problem Free Hand Tooled Leather. This Rare Piece is PERFECT for DISPLAY and has Exceptional Eye Appeal ! � Enjoy 😎 �
