This auction is for a rare 1870's antique handsaw, marked on the medallion: HARVEY W. PEACE - BROOKLYN, N.Y. - and the etching reads: HARVEY W. PEACE - EXTRA SPRING STEEL - WARRANTED - VULCAN SAW WORKS - BROOKLYN, N.Y. - This antique handsaw is in very good condition overall for its age and features a distinctive nib, lambs tongue handle, fully legible etching, 10 ppi, no rust and no pitting and no cracks in the nice patina'd handle. The upper horn does have a tiny chip on its end and the handle also shows tiny tool box nicks but t is still good evidence of the original varnish. The blade is not perfectly straight but has a very minor bow and is not kinked. T is no missing teeth and it is still fairly sharp with evidence of being sharpened in its past history. T is also a piece of very old, dried up masking tape on the handle that reads: GEO., that I did not want to remove. This saw blade measures 22" long and the total weight is 16 ozs.
