1871 12.5C Wailuku Plantation 12 1/2 Cents, Broad Starfish, XF40 PCGS. M. 2TE-3. The 12 1/2 cent or one real tokens were made by blacksmiths at the Wailuku, Maui cane sugar plantation and paid to workers. About two-thirds of such tokens feature a narrow starfish on the reverse (M. 2TE-2) but the present lot is the rarer broad starfish variety. A well centered deep brown representative with an even strike and unabraded, moderately granular surfaces. Listed on page 414 of the 2015 Guide Book.
