1871 Columbia Americas Cup Schooner J B Van Deusen Melbourne Smith LithographOffered for auction is a beautiful 13" x 14" Melbourne Smith lithograph of the Columbia , a centerboard schooner and 1871 defender of America's Cup.Melbourne Smith, a world renown " Naval Architect " and " Shipbuilder " masterfully portrayed the Americas Cup yacht in gouache and water color. Under his brush, a profile of hull and sails becomes almost three dimensional, showing much of the vessel's hull form. His painting is reproduced in its original size by lithography on fine paper with particular care to assure true reproduction of color.Columbia was the second defender of the America's Cup in 1871, sailing against challenger Livonia.Included with the lithograph is a narrative description of both the defender and challenger and and of the courses over which they sailed in the America's Cup.Lithograph print will be packaged and shipped in a heavy duty artwork / poster mailing tube for safe mailing.This Melbourne Smith nautical print would look beautiful in your home or office.
