I am selling TWO 1871 passports from the sister and niece of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the naval hero of the War of 1812/Battle of Lake Erie. This first passport belonged to Gertrude Vinton. You can read more about the family here: /Perry.html It was signed by Secretary of State Hamilton Fish, often considered one of the best Secretary of State's in U.S. history (sorry, Hillary!) I am not an authenticator of autographs but I have compared this unique signature to official documents online and its characteristics are consistent. I consider it genuine. Read more about the Secretary of State here: /wiki/Hamilton_Fish This document is LARGE, measuring 24" X 18" unfolded. The paper is heavy stock...almost like linen and has a beautiful watermark of the U.S. State Dept. shield. I tried to photograph it. A beautiful U.S. document from a distinguished New England family with a nice signature.
