Frontispiece steel engraving of Faraday taken from a photograph by a studio in Lambreth. One other steel engraving of Faraday in text. Gilt title and black decoration on maroon boards. Cover, binding, and pages in very good condition. Owner's pressed stamp on front endpaper. Deals with Faraday's discovery of magno-electricity, his first researches into electro-chemistry, researches into frictional electricity, magnetization of light, speculations, etc., along with biographical details. A seminal work by a scientist who was also famous for his work on motion, sound, light and electricity, radiation, etc.
