This is a genuine and complete issue (8 pages) of the Helena Herald for Thursday, June 25, 1874. Packed with local, national, and even International news of the day. Articles and stories include a correspondence from Camp Lewis which mentions the fact that Company "F" has set up permanent camping at this new location. It describes the conditions, terrain, etc. The paper also contains a nice correspondence from Carrol, Montana which is basically a progress report on the newly established town. The report reads in part: "This town is a success, at least it looks that way to a disinterested party. T are already about two hundred citizens nesting about, and news ones coming in on every boat". The article goes on to talk about all the buildings going up with "Wood Hawks", "Hunters" and "Garroters" preparing to migrate in and "It's all the talk on the river". It mentions that t is only one drawback, and that's the fact that no liquor is allowed to be sold. "It is the opinion of river men that Carrol will be the head of navigation on the Missouri river in the course of a year or two". It's a lengthy piece and very interesting.
