Welcome To Vintage-Coins "Where The Most Wonderful Coin Hobbyists on eBay Choose to Shop!" ___________________________________________________ LIQUIDATING MY PERSONAL COIN COLLECTIONS.... ______________________________________________________________________ For Your Consideration, THIS AUCTION WILL BE FOR TWO ITEMS (Also Sometimes Known As "Combo-Bundles"): Item 1 : 1875-S LIBERTY SEATED TWENTY-CENT PIECE One Of The Shortest-Lived Coins Authorized In U. S. History. Isn't It Time You Own One ? Please look at the photos , I think I have zoomed in well enough so you can grade the qualities of this rare beauty yourself. Kindly Notice: Any coin, in person, may appear of slightly different toning than the particular hues picked up under bright photographic lighting. If I could trip by time machine to 1875, and back, my pockets would return filled with these Twenty-Cent pieces. (More than likely the "CC" Mint variety but San Francisco Mint is still the cat's meow.) For starters, these coins were mainly minted only in the thousands beginning 1875, and finalized (except for a few "proofs") in 1876 (an 1876-CC MS-64 went for $350,750 at Stack's auction, October 2007). In all fairness I must also point out--that the 1875-S series was the most abundant mintage--with about 1,155,000 of them minted. (So, when bidding, please do not compare 1875-S to the "CC" biggie sale mentioned above !) Let's discuss this coin: Really difficult to find one that is in its natural state, and yet still in somewhat great shape. To my eye at least, this one has all the right attributes and it is a nicely eye-appealing coin. In today's market, many of them out there have been cleaned/buffed to make them bright and shiny, and then the owners try to bump their grading opinions up a notch or two. The professional grading services do a better job, giving the natural coins (which may have even more wear than their shiny cousins) a couple of bumps up in grade. Which ones would you say are the "better" coins? Relying on my own eyes only, I believe the coin listed likely has been surface wiped more than once during its long history--but nothing catches my eye to cause me to think the surface has ever been treated with chemicals or any form of buffing to improve the remaining luster (which is, in fact, somewhat faded as can be seen in the photos). All in all a really nice example of a harder to find, truly historic U. S. coin! I have included zoom photos in the listing so you can take a closer look before bidding .
