Morgan Dollars 1879 Philadelphia mint **Near Mint ** VERY RARE 26 grams .900 silver The coin has been kept in a coin capsule , but taken out for the photos. This will be the coin you get, and the back in the coin capsule. The coin is in NEAR MINT CONDITION with all fine details still in tact. This is my opinion.... Please judge the picture for yourself as the condition of the coin considering the age of the coin, please do not hesitate to email if you have any questions. About "mintages" and quantities that exist today - Around 1918 the US government melted an extremely large quantity of silver dollars to extract the silver from them - 270,232,700 coins! No one knows how many of each date or mint mark were melted. Because of this, original coin mintages don’t reflect today’s scarcity. Some silver dollars with seemly large mintages are difficult to find today, probably because large amounts of those years were melted. How many of these coins are left, and at this condition??????
