Circa 1880 Aesthetic Movement, Eastlake Victorian Parcel Gilt, Ebonised, Incised Table,Cabinet Photo, Art EaselFor your consideration is a rare examples of an ebonized Aesthetic Movement easel I've come across in a long time. Note the variety of the naturalistic incised carving bottom left, right and center bottom anchor panel. Water gilded fluted rails highlighted with a cast pomme frieze of oxidized silver gilt, lending a patina of bronze.Height: 13 3/4"Width: 6 1/2"Excellent condition with minor surface ware.Victorian variant of the Aesthetic movement, wherein an amalgamation of Medievalism and Orientalism is present. Artisan coated with gesso and ebonized. Incised floral leaves and berries, coupled with geometric patterns into the black surface, revealing the white gesso beneath. Aesthetic frames are often ebonized and have incised surface patterns with naturalistic forms.
